Rehabilitation of a 70s apartment into two suites in Chania Old Town, Crete

The project lies in the heart of the Old Town of Chania, within a building of the modern era built where only rubble was left from the WW2 bombardments. Having no direct ties to the city’s venetian past except for its view, the space was approached as a blank state ready to host two modern apartments. The concept is to provide short-term residents with high quality accommodation, providing all the necessary equipment.

The project features clean lines with a variety of textures, making the most out of the limited space while maintaining an aura both warm and luxurious. The space is organized with smart arrangements of multifunctional furniture that maximize the compact layout, giving a sense of a openness and continuity.

The material palette includes travertine, natural oak veneer, black metal, reeded glass, and black marble—an elegant combination of modernity and warmth.
